The best part of a ‘before & after’ is the reveal! This 1920’s apartment had fallen into disrepair. It had retained all its original footprint and fittings having had only one owner. Beautiful curved Deco walls, decorative moulded ceilings, and huge windows were its saving grace.

The property was completely gutted. Doorways were opened (making them taller and wider), French doors customised, and wide skirting boards introduced. A Dado rail with moulding was added to formal rooms. Cabinetry, kitchen and bathrooms were refurbished to a cleaner modern style.

The whole project took three months in turning this dilapidated Deco apartment into a modern and comfortable home with a refined edge. Bringing together the best of old and new, it was a lesson in restraint and financial accountability as it was an investment property. The end result was a delightful space that had been hidden for years under its faded grandeur.
